Environment Minister receives UN Resident Coordinator

​Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, received Khaled Abdul Salam Al Mekwad, UN Resident Coordinator in Bahrain, and Asmaa Shalabi, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

 
The meeting emphasised Bahrain’s keenness to continue cooperation with the UN and its specialised agencies to support global efforts in tackling climate change and achieving sustainable development.
 
Discussions reviewed means to enhance cooperation in environmental and climate domains. Dr. Bin Daina underlined Bahrain’s commitment to being an active partner in shaping international decisions on climate and environment to safeguard the interests of countries most affected by climate change.
 
Al Mekwad commended Bahrain’s efforts and commitment to advancing climate and environmental action, confirming the UN system’s readiness to support the Kingdom in implementing related programmes and initiatives.​
